Events brought to you by the Museum
We are pleased to collaborate with a number of local entities to bring top quality events to the region.
Two of the major events we organise and co-host are:
Waitangi Day Commemorations.
Matariki Celebrations.
Planning is already underway to make these events bigger and better in 2026, as we work to create more meaningful, engaging, and memorable experiences for our community.
Matariki 2025
June 19 and 20, 2025
19 June - Reading of the Stars. Assemble at Te Rereatukahia Marae gate, Katikati.
20 June - Matariki Dawn Service. Stay on to share free hot kai immediately after the service.
Free parking & ride at Katikati Primary School car park to Park Road Reserve will run from 5:00am.
Te Rā o Waitangi 2025
February 6th, 2025
Haiku park, Katikati.
The event offered free entry, and many attendees brought along rugs, chairs, and sunblock to make the most of the day. Visitors enjoyed a range of interactive activities, including poi-making, weaving, and opportunities to experience kai, all accompanied by vibrant live music.
A lineup of 13 delicious food vendors kept everyone’s pukus full throughout the event, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere. The crowd was entertained and inspired by a series of Māori and Pasifika cultural performances, which showcased rich traditions and talent from across the community.
The musical programme featured performances from Chur Da Boys, Junior John, and Local Trio, each bringing their own flavour and helping to create a memorable celebration for all who attended.
