Mana Whenua Liaison Officer

We have a new, exciting and pivotal role at Western Bay Museum as our Mana Whenua Liaison Officer. This is a fixed term contract position, with a desire to secure additional funding to see it grow into a full-time permanent role.
Hapū within Northern Tauranga Moana have told us the importance of their views and aspirations being included in the Museum’s evolution and development. We are seeking a person who will lead our ongoing consultation and community engagement with mana whenua and help us to nurture the trusted and long-term relationships we aspire to.
The role also provides the opportunity to help us improve our capability and confidence for effective and valued engagement with hapū. This is across all levels of our organisation including governance, management and volunteers.
You are a person with an advanced knowledge in Te Reo Māori and Tikanga Māori, a wide network,and you are a team player committed to helping us learn and grow. Knowledge of the Code of Ethics of Museums Aotearoa is desirable, but not essential.
